Brianna Hayes

In November 2014, Brianna Hayes was recruited into the Bond & Madison County Employment & Training program through MERS Goodwill, after being referred from one of her friends who at the time was already in the program.  When Brianna started the program she had recently graduated in May of the same year from Bond County Community Unit #2 High School. 

When Brianna came to the program she was very shy and not very confident.  However, after she was placed in subsidized employment in a couple worksites, her confidence grew.  In addition, Brianna also obtained work experience and mastered the art of juggling her personal life and work life around a set schedule. 

While in the program Brianna obtained her Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification after completing 10 classroom hours in early June 2015 at Kaskaskia College. 

In addition to obtaining a certification, Brianna completed her job readiness training (JRT) which involved watching DVDs pertaining to work skills, goals, habits, ethics and interviews.  She walked away with lots of knowledge, a beautiful resume, and tips for landing and keeping a job. 

In September of 2015, Brianna interviewed and got hired at the Sodexho food service company, which cooks and serves the food for the hundreds of students at Greenville College.

Brianna’s short term goal for attending college became a reality when she enrolled as a full-time student in August of 2015 at Kaskaskia College.  She completed her college application, FAFSA, and was admitted to the college.  Recently Brianna obtained a scholarship through Kaskaskia College to continue her education goal. 

Brianna’s long term goals include earning her associate, bachelor, and master degrees and becoming a therapist or a school counselor.
