Madison County Animal Care and Control is still practicing daily operations due to COVID-19, to ensure the public's safety. Madison County Animal Care and Control will continue with the below policies/procedures.
- Municipalities MUST make scheduled appointments when brining in animals to Madison County Animal Care and Control.
- If an owner wants to turn in their animal we would ask them to contact Madison County Animal Care and Control prior to turn in their animal.
- Animals brought in by the public must make appointments when bringing in stray animals.
- Individuals wanting to make appointments for Euthanasia MUST schedule an appointment by 3pm Monday-Friday.
- Owner Turn Ins will continue to be limited and will depend on space in the facility and what strays are coming in. If an owner does turn in an animal they will be required to make a scheduled appointment with an animal control officer.
Tag Office:
The tag office will continue to be open to the public through email, mail, online payment options, and over the phone payment options. At this time we will not be allowing anyone to come into the office to make a payment due to the safety of our staff and continuing to reduce the number of individuals in the building.
These new procedures will help us continue to ensure the safety of our staff and officers and continue to keep the public safe during these uncertain times.

Madison County Employment and Training is open by appointment only. Appointments can be made online at www.co.madison.il.us/mcetd or by phone at (618) 296-4301. Once an appointment is scheduled, customers will receive an email confirmation of their appointment time and instructions on how and when to enter the building.
Regular cleaning is taking place along with other safety measures to include disinfecting common areas, placing disposable plastic over the keyboards, enforcing the face-covering mandate and limiting the number of people allowed in the office.
At this time, state staff from the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) will not be returning to the office for in-person assistance. As before, Employment and Training staff are unable to assist with filing for unemployment benefits or answer any questions concerning a person’s UI benefits. Customers requiring Unemployment Insurance services should contact the IDES call center at (800) 244-5631 or visit the website at www.ides.illinois.gov. Packets with information about how to file for unemployment and a list of potential community resources are available outside the entrance of the department at 101 E. Edwardsville Road, Wood River.

The Public Defender's office is open during regular business hours (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM). The courts in Madison County are re-opening with some changes. If you receive a notice to appear in court from either the clerk or the this office, CALL the Public Defender Office at (618) 692-7474 to verify your court date, time to appear and location.
If you are required to come to court, SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES ARE IN EFFECT.
- You must wear a mask to entry a county building.
- You will not be able to bring a relative or friend into the building. They should remain outside or in their vehicle.
- Maintain 6 feet between you and everyone else.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Madison County Recorder Amy M. Meyer is taking steps to ensure the safety of our patrons, employees and the residents of Madison County. Understanding the essential function our office provides and the need to continue our operations, we have changed our operations with the goal of continuing our services to the public while limiting exposure of the virus to our patrons and staff. At this time, the VAC is fully operational and completing appointments both in person and remotely via the telephone or other electronic mean as needed and appropriate. We are rotating VAC Staff daily in order for Veterans to complete necessary appointments as well as drop off or pick up items, sign documents and related other business as instructed by VAC Staff. Please be advised that a facial covering is required when coming into the VAC for any in person scheduled appointment. Free facial coverings are available for Veterans who may need one.
