Madison County Planning & Development, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Heartlands Conservancy are embarking on a watershed planning process for the American Bottom Watershed.  Watershed planning is a way to strategically identify and address water quality and flooding issues within a drainage area.  The plan will result in a long-term vision for the American Bottom area and will provide a series of recommendations to reduce flooding and water pollution.

To kick-off the process, the planning team is hosting two open house events.  The first is open house is scheduled for Wednesday September 28th from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Pontoon Beach Village Hall.  The next evening, the second open house event will be held.  On Thursday, September 29th from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Nelson Hagnauer Township Hall.
