INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

Description

This program provides vaccine information to citizens about travel to other countries. The information for required and recommended vaccines is provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and is based on destination, length of stay, and time of year. The nurses can provide additional information about the vaccines, i.e., how long it takes for the vaccine to become effective, the risks and benefits of the vaccine. Some of the required vaccinations are offered at Madison County Health Department. The nurses refer clients to local clinics for vaccinations not offered at Madison County Health Department. Other useful information about the destination, such as safety concerns and climate, is also provided.

Benefits

Information is relayed to client within 24 to 48 hours. Some travel vaccines are available at Madison County Health Department.
