There are three ways to cast a ballot in Madison County.  As a registered voter, you can Vote Early, Vote By Mail or vote on Election Day at your assigned polling place.

Early Voting

For the two weeks before election day, you can vote early in-person at one the Early Voting Centers located throughout the County.  Hours vary by location.

If you are not registered to vote, you may register and cast a ballot the same day thanks to Grace Period registration and voting. You must present two qualifying forms of ID to Grace Period register and vote.

Vote By Mail

Any registered Madison County voter with a driver’s license, state ID or social security number on file may request a mail ballot using an online or paper application.

Ballots must be postmarked by Election Day in order to be counted.

Good News!  Madison County is now offering Permanent Vote By Mail.  This option will allow you to vote by mail in all subsequent elections held in Madison County. You will still have the option to vote by mail in a single election if you so choose.

You can apply for Permanent Vote by Mail Status using an online or paper application. 

Election Day Voting

Registered Madison County voters can vote in their precinct on Election Day.

Residents who are not registered to vote may register and cast a ballot on Election Day thanks to same-day registration and voting. Those who wish to register on Election Day must present two qualifying forms of ID.

If you are visually impaired or print disabled, you may request an accessible mail ballot on-line or by calling 618-296-4689 or by emailing votebymail@madisoncountyil.gov.
